The inspiration for the construction of this villa was a rare vinyl by Dorival Caymmi – one of Brazil’s most influential singer-songwriters – recorded in the 1950s and cherished by the owners. But the moment you step inside, it all becomes clear: this collector’s gem has inspired a home filled with Brazilian soul and an irresistibly laid-back charm.
The beachfront location is a highlight: the villa sits on a beachfront plot in one of the most secluded corners of Praia dos Pinheiros, within a gated condominium, just a few kilometres from São Paulo. With the sea as the star of the setting, every part of the house has been thoughtfully designed to frame the view. Even the gourmet kitchen flows seamlessly into the living room. The tropical landscaping embraces the scenery without blocking the ocean views, despite the lush greenery.
And the local caiçara culture shines through in many of the decorative features – with light tones, paddles hung on the walls, and other seaside elements -which retain a cosy and comfortable feel.
From the five suites to the TV room, every space is delightful. Not to mention the outdoor area: there is a swimming pool, a pergola with hammocks, and a fire pit perfect for warm, fire-lit evenings. From beginning to end, this is the beach house of our dreams.
